Recognising a gap in the market for a law firm specifically dedicated to offering regulatory advice, Maree Gallagher founded the firm in 2004. Maree Gallagher Associates (MGA) is a highly specialised niche law firm providing expert legal & technical advice to the food,  animal feed, pharmaceutical and consumer product sectors.

The ethos of the firm is to ensure that all advice is tailored to reflect the legal and regulatory requirements as they apply to each client’s particular business. MGA lawyers are specialists and we cater for specific industries.

Maree Gallagher, the firm’s founder, is an experienced EU lawyer who is fully familiar with the business and regulatory environments in which clients operate. Focusing on successfully delivering product to market, MGA advises on all issues affecting the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector and the agri-food sector. These include market entry, labelling & packaging, health & nutrition claims, composition, hygiene, product liability, traceability, food & product safety, CE marking, advertising & sales promotion. Crisis management, product recall and effective lobbying strategies are also fundamental to the firm’s offering.

MGA has advised a number of large and well-known Irish and multi-national companies  operating in Irish, European and global markets.

A significant proportion of our work comes by way of referrals from other law firms based in Ireland, the UK and beyond. We are frequently asked to provide those firms with regulatory advice within our areas of expertise. We are often asked to provide Irish legal advice as part of European and global marketing projects.

MGA has co-ordinated similar projects on behalf of Irish and non-Irish companies. We have assisted clients in focusing on the issues that they need resolved. We use our extensive network of experienced global contacts to provide the country-specific advice required by our clients. Once that advice has been obtained we collate the information and provide clients with the results in a manner which is best suited to their needs.

The firm also advises businesses which are subject to investigations from regulatory bodies. In Ireland this would include the Food Safety Authority of Ireland, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the Health Service Executive, the Health and Safety Authority, the National Consumer Agency and Irish Medicines Board. In addition we
represent clients before Irish courts in cases such as challenges to the actions of the regulators, contaminated food and feed products and general food hygiene, feed law and related regulatory matters.

The members of the firm are experienced in giving presentations and providing practical training and guidance to individual businesses.

MGA is highly recommended by Practical Law Company – Which Lawyer? and is also recommended by Legal 500.

We are members of the UK Food Law Group, the European Food Law Group, the US Food and Drug Law Institute and  the US Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society.
